A 25-mile-long oceanfront along the edge of the city, parks, arts and culture, entertainment - residents of Newport Beach apartments have it all. Ten miles of the coast are designated as public beaches, perfect for bodysurfing, sunbathing, body boarding (at the park called The Wedge with huge waves in the summer and fall) or volleyball and Frisbee throwing. Some of the parks to visit would be Crystal Cove State Beach and Park, Corona Del Mar Beach and Park or the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach.

There are plenty of other spots to visit along the Pacific Coast Highway as well. A fun day trip to take is from Balboa Peninsula to Santa Catalina Island on the 500 passenger catamaran, the Catalina Flyer. The Island is beautiful and has a casino, and most islanders drive golf carts instead of cars because of restrictions.

For the more indoor types, and even those who don't especially care for the wind and the sand will enjoy the Orange County Museum of Art, the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum, Sports Museum and the Marconi Automotive Museum and Foundation for Kids. And there are always the "both" versions of people who like to get outdoors and also like to shop indoors.

Fashion Island was a ground-breaking open air mall built in 1967 with major expansions over the years. The anchor department stores of the mall include Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdales, Macy's and Nordstrom. You can visit all varieties of stores from jewelry to shoes, as well as find furniture and housewares for your Newport Beach apartment at Bloomingdale's Home Store and other home specialty stores. As with most malls, a food court offers a wide range of eats for those days and nights when you don't feel like cooking.

The financial world is big in Newport Beach, as it is home to the world's largest bond fund, Pacific Investment Management Company. It is also a high tech city, with several semiconductor companies headquartered here, including Jazz Semiconductor that employs around 800 people.
